Solid carbide roughing nano-coating end mills for aluminum are core, high-efficiency tools used in CNC machining and engraving machines for high material removal rate (MRR) cutting of aluminum alloys. These tools specifically address the pain points of aluminum alloy machining, such as tool sticking, built-up edge, and poor chip removal. 
 Core Technological Advantages
  • Solid Carbide : Typically uses ultra-fine tungsten carbide as the base material, which has extremely high red hardness (high temperature resistance) and rigidity, and can significantly reduce tool runout and vibration at high speeds.
  • Roughing/Chipbreaker Design : The cutting edge features a special wave pattern or chip-breaking groove design that breaks wide and long aluminum chips into extremely small particles. This greatly reduces cutting resistance and prevents aluminum chips from entangled in the tool shaft, making it ideal for roughing with a large depth of cut. 
  • Aluminum-specific nano-coating :
    • DLC coating (diamond-like carbon coating) : Currently the most advanced nano-coating for aluminum. It has an extremely low coefficient of friction (close to Teflon) and a mirror-like smooth surface, exhibiting superior **anti-stick (non-stick)** properties, extending lifespan by 2-3 times.
    • ZrN (zirconium nitride) or rainbow-like coating : also a common high-quality non-ferrous metal coating, which can significantly improve the hardness of the cutting edge and prevent aluminum alloys from chemically bonding (thermal welding) at high temperatures.
Guide to Choosing the Number of Teeth (Flutes)
When machining aluminum alloys, chip removal space is the primary consideration, and is therefore typically limited to 1-3 teeth. 
  • Single-tooth (1 Flute / O-Flute) : Ideal for CNC routers and high-speed cutting of thin plates. Features the largest chip relief groove, completely eliminating the risk of tool sticking.
  • 3-Flutes : The optimal balance point for medium/heavy roughing on CNC milling machines. It ensures sufficient chip removal space while offering higher feed per tooth and rigidity than a single tooth, enabling extremely high material removal rates.
  • (Note: Cutting tools with 4 or more teeth are usually used for machining hard materials such as steel and iron. Machining aluminum alloys can easily lead to tool burning or breakage due to insufficient chip removal grooves. Please avoid this when selecting a cutting tool.)
