A compression bit combines both upcut and downcut geometries into a single tool:
Bottom Section (Upcut): Pulls the chips upward, ensuring a clean finish on the bottom edge of the material.
Top Section (Downcut): Pushes the chips downward, ensuring the top surface does not chip or "blow out."
The Result: The material is "compressed" toward the center, resulting in a perfect, splinter-free edge on both sides.
Material: Micrograin Solid Carbide (Enhanced with coatings like Cupro for increased heat resistance and longevity).
Flute Design: Typically available in 2-flute or 3-flute configurations.
Recommended Materials: MFC (Melamine Faced Chipboard), laminated plywood, solid surface materials, and veneered MDF.
