Axyz 22872 blades are 60-degree Roland-style drag knives specifically designed for detailed or deep cutting in materials like thick vinyl, reflective films, and sandblast masks. These carbide blades utilize a steeper angle to penetrate tougher substrates more effectively than standard 45-degree alternatives.

Applicable Materials and Best Application Scenarios

Compared to common general-purpose 45-degree inserts, 60-degree inserts offer stronger vertical penetration and less lateral resistance when contacting materials. They are best suited for the following applications:

Cutting heavy materials : Due to its straighter cutting angle, it can easily penetrate materials that are thicker, harder, or denser than 0.5mm .
Typical materials processed include : thicker cardstock/cardboard, sandblast mask, magnetic sheets, reflective film, flock/glitter HTV, and certain thin rubber or sponge.
High precision in minute details : When engraving very small fonts, complex patterns, or sharp angles, the 60-degree blade causes minimal material warping (vinyl ear), providing cleaner, non-distorted edges.

Production and Usage Recommendations

Blade life management : If you mainly cut thin, ordinary sign vinyl, it is recommended to use a 45-degree blade (such as Axyz 20314) because the wear distribution of a 45-degree blade is more even on thin materials, resulting in a longer lifespan. Only switch to the 60-degree blade 22872 when dealing with thick materials or ultra-fine patterns .
Pressure and speed adjustment : When switching to a 60-degree blade in a CNC control system (such as Axyz A2MC or the new software), it is usually necessary to reduce the cutting speed appropriately and slightly reduce the mechanical downforce to prevent piercing the backing paper and extend the life of the fine blade tip.
