Common Swivel Blade Types
Most Mimaki cutting plotters and integrated printer-cutters (like the CJV150 or CJV300 series) use one of the following standard blade types:
30° Blade (Standard/Lightweight): Best for thin materials like window tint, rice paper, and thin films.
Example: SPB-0001 is a common carbide blade with a 0.3mm offset for standard adhesive-backed vinyl.
45° Blade (General Purpose): The most versatile "all-rounder" for standard media like cast or calendered vinyl up to 2mm thick. It is ideal for precision cutting and detailed designs.
Example: SPB-0030 is frequently used for PVC with low pressure.
60° Blade (Deep/Thick/Tough Materials): Best for thick or tough materials like magnetic sheets, reflective tape, sandblast stencil, and felt. Because it has a less sharp angle, it requires less force to drag through tough media.
Example: SPB-0006 is often titanium-coated for durability when cutting reflective sheeting.
Specialty Swivel Blades
For specific industrial materials, Mimaki offers targeted parts:
For Small Letters: The SPB-0003 is specifically designed for intricate detail work and small letter sizes.
For Rubber Sheets: The SPB-0005 has a 0.75mm offset and is designed for rubber sheets up to 0.8mm thick.
For Fluorescent Sheets: The SPB-0007 is a 50° blade with a 0.5mm offset specialized for fluorescent media.
Key Settings to Remember
When switching between these blade types, you must adjust your machine's offset value. A standard 45° blade often uses a 0.25mm or 0.3mm offset, while a 60° blade for thick materials may require a much larger offset, such as 0.75mm.
