What the POT Is
A POT is a pneumatic knife tool that converts compressed air into high‑frequency vertical blade motion (oscillation).
It is usually one of several interchangeable tool heads on a modular digital cutting table for non‑metallic and composite materials.
Key Technical Features
High stroke frequency, often in the range of thousands to tens of thousands of strokes per minute, which enables fast processing of complex shapes.
Long stroke (around 8 mm) creates strong penetration force, allowing cutting of thick and dense substrates.
Robust construction for continuous industrial use, with low maintenance due to the simple pneumatic drive.
Suitable Materials
POTs are chosen when standard drag knives or light oscillating tools cannot provide enough cutting power.
Tough and dense materials: foams, rubber, gasket materials, dense cardboard, and vertical corrugated board.
Flexible but thick materials: leathers, textiles, composites, and similar multi‑layer materials when high cutting force is required.
Typical Applications
Packaging and display: cutting corrugated board, foam inserts, and protective packaging elements.
Footwear, leather, and gasket industries: processing soles, leather parts, and sealing gaskets where EOT or POT tools are commonly specified.
Automotive and industrial: cutting interior trim, insulation, and technical textiles in short‑run or custom production.
POT Blades and Options
Blades are available in different thicknesses (commonly about 0.5–1.5 mm), selected according to material hardness and cut quality requirements.
Some systems use variable or dedicated blade clampers to accommodate multiple blade widths for broader application coverage.
