How to correctly select and use Axyz BT-56240 BT-56265 BT-56270 BT-562090 Double Edge Flat Point Carbide Knife Blades

Selecting and using Axyz BT-562xx series (B2031L family) double-edge flat-point carbide knife blades involves aligning the cut length with material thickness and managing feed rates to prevent stress on the carbide shaft. Here’s a guide to help you through the process:

Step 1: Selecting the Correct Blade
Choose a blade with the shortest cut length that covers your material's thickness plus a 1–2 mm safety margin. Excessive blade length results in higher leverage forces and blade deflection.
- BT-56240 (40 mm Cut Depth): Suitable for rubber gaskets, dense acoustic felt, corrugated plastics, and foam blocks up to 38 mm thick. Offers maximum lateral rigidity.
- BT-56265 & BT-56270 (65 mm & 70 mm Cut Depth): Ideal for medium to thick packaging foam (EPE/EVA), soundproofing mats, and layered composites.
- BT-56290 (90 mm Cut Depth): Designed for deep EPS foam block conversion, thick polyurethane foam, and bulk insulation material.

Step 2: Machine Setup & Installation
Proper seating is crucial to minimize vibration and avoid premature chipping or snapping.
1. Clean the Shank and Collet: Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the 6 mm shank and toolholder sleeve. Residual resin or metal dust can cause misalignment, leading to micro-fractures from oscillation loads.
2. Mount and Secure the Tool: Fully insert the 6 mm shank into the toolholder. Torque the clamping screw or collet nut as specified, avoiding over-tightening to protect the tungsten carbide.
3. Set Z-Axis Surface and Bottom Clearance: Calibrate the Z-axis zero at the top of the sacrificial cutting mat. Ensure the flat tip just grazes the mat surface (0.1–0.2 mm clearance) at its lowest stroke.
4. Configure Controller Parameters: Adjust your controller (e.g., Axyz A2MC) to detect the double-edge profile. Enable tangential knife control and set lifting parameters for sharp corners.

Step 3: Operational Best Practices
To optimize operations, consider the following practices:
- Maximize Oscillation Rate: Operate at high-frequency oscillation (10,000–12,000 RPM) for smooth slicing without dragging dense materials.
- Utilize Bidirectional Advantage: The double edges on sweeping curves allow high-speed continuous toolpaths without needing full 180° turns.
- Ensure Proper Cornering & Lift-and-Turn Rules: For turns under 45 degrees, continuous slicing is feasible. For sharp 90-degree corners on materials thicker than 20 mm, perform a tangential lift-and-turn to avoid shaft snapping.
- Manage Feed Rates:
  - Foams (EPS / EPE): Employ a high feed rate (8–15 m/min) at full RPM.
  - Dense Rubber / Gaskets: Use a lower feed rate (2–5 m/min) with high oscillation to minimize lateral drag.
