Multicam Compression Bits for Wood & Composites

Compression CNC router bits are the standard for clean, splinter-free edges on both the top and bottom faces of wood and composite materials. By combining an upcut geometry at the tip with a downcut geometry along the remaining flute length, these tools compress material fibers inward toward the center of the cut. This mechanical action prevents the surface fuzzing, splintering, and edge tear-out typical of standard spiral bits when machining double-sided laminates, plywood, MDF, particleboard, and melamine

Key Benefits for Wood & Composites
  • Dual-Face Finish: Ensures clean, tear-free top and bottom surfaces in a single pass.
  • High-Speed Nesting: Maximizes material yield during continuous furniture or cabinet manufacturing processes.
  • Fuzz Elimination: Eliminates micro-splinters and rough edges on cross-laminated veneers.
  • Chip Management: Optimally balances upward chip evacuation from deeper grooves with a clean downward surface shear.

Operational Requirements & Critical Rule
To activate the compression benefit, you must plunge the bit past its upcut zone on the very first pass. If the cutting depth is shallower than the length of the upcut tip, the tool behaves purely as an upcut bit, causing top-surface chipping and splintering.
  • Standard Applications: Ideal for full-depth, high-speed single-pass cuts using structural diameters like 3/8" or 1/2" on automated lines.
  • Thin Materials: For workpieces under 1/2" thick, select a Mortise or Short Upcut Compression Bit. These tools feature an abbreviated upcut zone (often around 1/8") to safely engage the downward shear on thin boards
